Week 2 Theme: you and the big world--you don't have to be old to do week 2!

The 1990’s were a decade to change all. At this point in time I was just born. January 1990. When I was growing up I was told that my generation was the generation of the baby boomers. The beginning of the 1990’s are most of a blur to me as I was a little kid. The stories that I heard growing up have stuck with me and I remember some things.
In 1990 the major thing that happened this year was the Gulf War. The Gulf War started August 2, 1990 and ended February 28, 1991. George H. W. Bush was the president at the time. The coalition came of victorious.
Collape of the Soviet Union ended in 1991. On April 10th a South Alantic tropical cyclone was the first to be documented. Know all kinds of tropical storms/hurricanes are documented today in 2010.
1992 was the year that my brother was born and now I don’t have to just share my things with my twin sister but know a brother.
Operation Desert Storm is still commonly heard of today even in 2010. It was officially recorded in the record books that it ended November 30, 1995. This was also the year that I attend public school as a kindergartener.
The year 2000 was the year that most everybody thought the world would end. Y2K was a term that had most people scrunching for food, water, and supplies. Of course since I am writing this piece, the world did not end. There are reports that in 2012 the world will end again, but it’s just a big hoxe.
2001 was a year that my generation will carry with us for the rest of our lives. On September 11, 2001, our nation took a turn that nobody expected. This event in time marks how all we hear about in the media is Terrorism. I was 12 yrs old and in 6th grade. I remember being in music class and the teacher hearing the announcement over the intercom and turning the TV on to the media were a newscaster was filming the event of the planes hitting the towers. Sad day in time.
I jump to 2004 wear I become a freshmen in high school. It was a day that I will not forget as I was a part of the 2004 State Championship Football Game that Bucksport won. We were and still are a big community on sports.
2008 I graduate and here I sit writing this English piece. Now it is 2010 and a decade later there are reports that this decade will be another generation of the baby boomers.

  1. I like the way you mix reseach and memory, history with personal events. That back-and-forth weaving is very effective here.

  4. Hold on I did not say that. I think I'm just too critical on my own work.
